South South Cooperations

Our foundation is dedicated to leveraging South-South cooperation to fortify the autonomy of Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). A concrete step towards this goal has been the signing of a communique on November 8, 2022, on the sidelines of COP27 among Rwanda, Barbados, and Guyana, which manifests our commitment to these ideals. The details of this pivotal agreement can be accessed here.

We're committed to reducing their reliance on aid from developed nations by cultivating collaborative efforts and pooled procurement capacities. This strategic approach is not only timely but essential for boosting the self-esteem of these nations. It aligns with the recognition that LMICs often bear disease burdens that receive little or no attention in the developed world, leading to significant consequences with regards to priorities of research and development of novel vaccines and pharmaceutical products. At the same time, LMICs suffer from the fact that their purchasing power on the international market often cannot keep up with that of competing bidders, or that the quantities demanded by these countries are considered too small for a profitable deal by the sellers and thus neglected in the course of concentrating on the big buyers. This makes access to urgently needed medicines, vaccines, and medical equipment dramatically more difficult. By consolidating the common interests of countries in the Global South, we aim to address these neglected health concerns and their far-reaching impacts.

Our goal is to help foster a community of self-help among the regions of the Global South. By bringing together shared resources, expertise, and strategies, we aim to create a network that uplifts and supports each other. Through this collaboration, we highlight the inherent strength and resilience of LMICs, empowering them to thrive independently and build a sustainable future of self-sustenance. Our foundation seeks to serve as a catalyst for nurturing this collaboration, sharing resources, and promoting collective growth. It stands as a testament to fostering an environment that prioritizes inclusivity, fairness, and shared progress among all involved entities.
